Why do I think I will beat Jwolf?

Lets get back to the heart of the matter. Why do I think I will beat Jwolf? First of all, I have no delusions about my chances in the 7 game BoLScon tournament. I will be up against some rough competition, and most of those guys will have been playing 2k point games on a regular basis. I play 1750 games, and have only in the last few weeks started playing 2k to get ready. Believe it or not, that 250 points makes a HUGE difference! My army is optimized to play 1750 through two years of playing. I feel that I cannot field a better Blood Angels 1750 list, and my recent success has proven that... But, is there a better combination of points then what is in my list for a 2k point game? I dont know!

One thing that I think I have going for me is experience playing my game. From what I understand, and please correct me if I am wrong, Jwolf and most of his cadre down there play the "Brick in the face" approach most of the time. His theory is that if my entire army is dead, I cannot win! Well, most guys up here play that way too! Guys I face on a regular basis. My advantage is that my army list and tactics are proven to work against that mentality.

I have written pages about my tactics, but reading about them and playing against them are two different things. I do believe that helps my chances in the tournament as well. I think most of the guys in the tournament will have insane lists that excel at blowing each other off the table, and more then likely, the winner will be one of those guys who does it the best. But what about some one like me who is used to playing against those lists, and has built an army that is good at surviving? I have been reduced to a handful of models and pulled victories or draws while my opponent has 90% of his army still on the table. I think that the one thing I have going for me is that even now, a lot of guys know just what I am going to do, yet are still surprised when I do it, and win.

Will I win BoLSCOn? Probably not. Will I beat Jwolf? I plan on it, may the dice god shine upon me. Will I make a name for the boys in red? I firmly believe that when BoLSCOn is over, I will have earned respect for The Blood Angels, and some of the guys that encounter me will wake up with Jawaballs! echoing in their ears.

i think for what its worth that you will do well in the bolscon, better than you might think, you fritz do play 5th right for the armies that you field, the brick in the face still works against people playing a similar style of play you dont play like that, advantage jawa, having said that jwolf has won some pretty hardcore events and as far as i can workout plays 24/7.
theres a lot of people behide you, kick his ass.

A question about your tactics. If I have understood it correctly the basis is mobility (supah dupah blood angel rhinos) so that you can fight kind of a guerilla type of war and contest from far away. Correct me if I am wrong.

So the question, why do so many more in your army die than the opponent? Does the mobility really cost that many points? Do the mobile units really drain that much? Why can't you keep it even in the killing?

Does the choice of army make such a difference btw? I know that the Eldar's standard troops are a bit on the weedy side for instance, and they don't prance around in Land Raiders. But Space Marines are pretty sturdy guys, even if they are Blood Angels :)

That said, my 50 cent is on you. Go get them!

I haven´t seen Jwolf in action, but he seems to be a very good oldschool player. He will bring a though list for sure, if it will be the one he posted is another question. Tactically, I dare to say that your way of playing the game is more effective in 5th edition, but playstyle is not always reflected in the list you play. Take my csm list for example: people see the Lash and think I will play the usual way, but I just use it to give my army some passive mobility. That´s just an example, I´m sure that Jwolf will have some tricks in his sleeves that aren´t restricted to just shooting things to pieces. So good luck, I´m looking forward to hear the results! Will there be a vid?

Flek, that was just an exteme example. The results are usually much more my way. And yes, there will definitely be video!

Then I will just sit back, relax, and enjoy the videos :)

To watch you lose would reduce me to tears.. you, fritz, and Shiznaft are the guys that got me into 40k. If my idol is destroyed... well I will have no choice but to make a vow to beat Jwolf before I die!!!!!!!

All of us who drink the blood of Sanguinius are with you. Earn us the respect.

You are the guy who brought me over from playing Imperial Guard to playing Blood Angels.

We stand behind you.

Honest is the best policy right?

While I think you would probably beat Jwolf in a 1750 point game due to you list be optimized for that point level, I am curious how you will do at 2000 points.

The problem that most people have at 2000 points is that they try to add 250 points to their 1750 point list, or 150 points to their 1850 point list (we play 1850 over here). A 2000 point list or a 2500 point list should be made on its own, not as an upgrade to a smaller list.
Otherwise, you have a few miniatures that are thrown in to a list and not really part of an army.

JB's additions seem to be things he was used to using anyway, so iy shouldn't be a problem.
