I have so much to show you guys... I've been working so hard!  More soon about my own stuff...

But for today I wanted to talk about the Nova Open Charitable Foundation!

As most of you who know every year I paint models that are raffled off by NOCF with the proceeds being given away to charity.  Well this year I have to admit we as a force for good have outdone ourselves!  The teams grow every year and the models get nicer and nicer.  This year??  Feast your eyes on THIS:

That is correct... a Warlord Titan painted by my friend John Stiening!  I will certainly be buying tickets for this myself.  NOCF artists are allowed to buy tickets for stuff they did not work on... :)  WOOT!

Find more pictures of it HERE.

And for my own contribution this year I lead the team for Star Wars Legion.  Here are some pics:

I painted Luke and Vader and the 2 bikers.  I went a bit out of my element on Luke and Vader, trying new stuff like the Object Source Lighting... but I'm pretty happy with them and they hold their own with a fantastic Legion army.  My buddy Mike Cho painted the rebs while White Metal Games did the Imps, ATST, Speeder and some of the rebs.  The set is AMAZING.

So how does this work?  These models, as well as MANY more beautiful works of art are being RAFFLED off.  All you have to do is visit The NOCF website HERE and purchase tickets. Tickets are 2.00 or 5.00 a pop, with a minimum order of 10.00.  (There may be other restrictions but you get the point)... You can purchase tickets from any where around the world and if you win the items will be shipped to you free of charge. For example, if you purchase 20.00 worth of tickets for the Legion set, you will have 10 chances to win.  Easy!

The aim of the NOCF is to send 95 cents of every dollar to charities like Doctors Without Borders.  In memory of my brother who recently passed away at a much too young age, who along with my other two brothers, uncle, father and 2 cousins was in the military, I chose The Fisher House Foundation which is an organization that helps military families to be the recipient of the proceeds from the Legion army.

I could not be more proud to be part of something larger than myself, a force for good.  Visit the NOCF website HERE and get your tickets!  Best of luck.

More WIP

Today I am doing a Baal Predator.  I have been feeling pretty excited about painting lately and have been working my skills with the Airbrush.

Of course first comes black primer.

I'm kinda digging P3 Black Primer currently.  Sadly this can has primed it's last... its empty.

I need to invest in a proper camera!  So again I use Mephiston red as the base then do a second layer with Coat de' Arms Blood Red.  I'm so glad I found that color!

Looks a bit blue in this light...

I went back over it with a send dose of the Blood Red. For the weapons I do dark grey with a second layer of light grey, then I will wash with blue.

Thats it for now!  Later this week I will post finished pics of all the stuff I painted the last few days.

More to come!  Jawaballs

Primaris Repulsor

So here is my Primaris Blood Angels Repulsor!  Still WIP but the bulk of the painting is done.  I will be adding decals and some hand painted angel wings plus some washes here and there to heighten the contrast. Im gona go with some blue wash on the grave thingies and also the guns.

Oh and to the right you see arms for my newest Dread.. a contemptor this time!  This is a bonafied flurry of activity from me!  :)

Rusty Jawa!

Boy am I rusty!

I have been feeling the itch... the deep one.. that you just can't quite get at...

So hi!

Today I have something easy for you.  I have decided to paint up and clear out all of my old projects... starting with some Rhinos.  Here is a death company one!

First Here is the Rhino, primed black. I received some resin odds and ends from Spellcrow
so I thought I would use them on this Death Company transport. This pack is some skull decor. Pretty cool. It fits well.

Why Death Company?  Well apparently they are stupid good nowadays.  I've only played 2 games of 8th Edition and not with DC but I am planning on it soon!

After clipping and trimming the bits I glued them in with Gorilla Gel.

It took me a few to figure out how to use the door bits... I realized that instead of replacing the door, they are glued onto the face of it.

Like so!

I then airbrushed a final primer over the entire model using Valejo Black Primer.

For the highlights I initially planned to use 3 levels of grey, but was happy with just the first.. Valejo Neutral Grey Model Air.

Then the top door.  I used 2" wide Masking Tape which is the exact length of the door.

And I drew lines to define the shape on the tape.

Then I made marks 1/4" in from each corner on each side and connected the lines.

Then using Xacto I cut out the triangles. This can be done both ways if you want to save on Stencils if you are doing more than one.

I carefully placed the triangles on the door, but can also use the X.  To the left you can see the flame stencil I made for my Son's Pinewood Derby car...

Time to Airbrush!  I started with Mephiston red from the ends working towards the center, then finished with Coat De Arms Blood Red. (Old GW Blood Red)

And BOOM!  The stencil was not perfect but that is the thing with Death Company, you don't want it to be.  Some of the edges of the X are a bit broken, plus I accidentally touched the red paint on the tape then the black surface, but liked how it looked so left it. I touched up the edges of the black triangles with the primer...

Voila!  I need to do the treads and skulls and other fine details but this is perfectly servicable on any gaming table.  In the background you can see the repulsor I have been working on...  Pics of that soon. So what do you guys think?  How has 40k been treating you?  I should hopefully lots more content in the near future!

More to come.

New Stream on Twitch and Nova

Hey guys!

So I continue to try to dig myself back in and I wanted to share my progress!

First thing I want to say is that divorce is awful. Actually it is what comes after concerning the kids that is awful. But whatever. I'm past it and moving on, definitely on the up tick and feeling good!

Enough said.

So what is new?

Well my new army is mostly complete. I will be taking photographs and posting them here soon. The Dread Shed list is powerful and the Lucius pods are crazy fun to play.  Here are a few teaser pics.

Draednought Drop Pod in action!

Librarian Dreadnought and Furioso Dreadnought Drop Pods land

Jawaballs for the win? Well almost. 2nd overall (I won all my games) and Player's Choice. Not too shabby!

I also played in a couple tournaments and did VERY well.  More on that soon as well.

I just bought my tickets for The Nova Open!  This will be my first big con in several years.  I can't wait to go take a shot at Renaissance man again! The first two times I went I fell short of winning the title by a combined .7 points or something close.  The third time I had no idea I was even in the running and pretty much threw the last game out of exhaustion but still game in 4th I think.  This time? Provided that the new edition, if it is even used, is kind to my army I should have a shot.  I will be talking about that in the coming months. I will definitely be doing a lot of discussion as the game shifts to the new era.

Also pertaining to Nova I will be taking part in the Charity Army Build once a gain. I can't say more because I don't know what has been released yet.  Once I am given the OK I will tell you what I am painting.  It is going to be something I have NEVER painted before so this should be fun!

And finally I want to announce my new live stream on Twitch.  I am joining Brush Lickers United and streaming every Tuesday at 8pm EST. Check out my stream Channel HERE. Please take a pop over and click follow then join me next Tuesday.  I will also be doing more live gaming as time allows.

I will be doing frequent giveaways so be sure you are a follower over on the Twitch channel!

Finally on Youtube I have been uploading all of my The Jawaballs Way video sets.  There is a lot and it takes a long time. Please pop over to my YOUTUBE CHANNEL and check out all the new videos I have uploaded so far and don't forget to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE!  It really helps. My absence has caused a decline in the fantastic progress I was making on Youtube and I would love to reclaim that momentum.

I am feeling better about gaming than I have in years and it is time to get back into the scene!  Please join me again as I make my way back.  As always, I really appreciate your support and kind words. Please sound off in the comments to say hi!

Hand Painted Banner Goodness

Hi folks!

So I finished two more custom hand painted banners!  The first one is a banner for the Gaunts Ghosts.

The major images here are the Tanigh 1st and Only insignia, Imperial Aquilla, a red shield with a 1 on it and some honor plaques featuring Gaunt and 10 of his finest. Since I cannot get a grey fabric for the banner I went with black then painted a field of grey surrounded by a red border.

Up next is a Mordian banner:

For this one I did a version of a Mordian banner I found online... a black X on a red field.  We decided to go with a navy blue banner.  The 7 skulls represent the Mordian 7th as does the VII with the eagle wings and Halo. I honestly don't know what the Mahagon Jhune means.Maybe some one can share in the comments!

All in all these were two very fun banners to paint. I admit it took WAY longer than I hoped but in the end the banners are beautiful. Note the Mordian banner seems a bit wrinkly, this is because it spent about 6 weeks rolled up. :)

If you are interested in a banner for YOUR mancave, let me know! jawaballs at hotmail.

Sharing pics!

One of the things I always loved was receiving images of work from readers and viewers that I inspired. One such reader, named Jody Nolan sent me some pics from his Black Templar army! He has been a long time Subscriber on Youtube and when he noticed my resurgence the last few weeks he sent me a great message and a nice inspirational story himself. I am proud of him for developing his own talents and for taking the risk to share his work with us.

It is wonderful to know that I have been helping people for a decade now and I hope to keep on doing it for many more.

Here are the pics he shared. Remember, our hobby is what we make of it, not what the internet says it is.
