Why the hell!

Why would a company that sells a product not include with said product the wires you need to hook it the hell up. I just bought an All-in-one HP Deskjet, and went to plug the damn thing into my computer, and low and behold... I do not have the fricken USB cord that attaches the back of the printer to my computer. I mean, WTF? What does this cord cost them to make... 30 cents? Maybe? Instead of just popping one into the box they would rather aggravate the crap out of people, and make them go back to the store and pay 10 bucks for a stupid 30cent cable. Jesus Christ what a nuisance. If it were not for the fact that I purchased this thing off Amazon I would return the mother flunker from whence it came and after rubbing my ass all over it. Screw You HP. Now I have to dig through all my computer crap looking for a compatible cord. If I do not find one, I will take this thing out to the road and smash it to shit just for the fun of doing it. Screw it...
If any one is thinking of buying an HP Deskjet F4280, pass. Splurge and buy a model that includes the god damned USB cable.

unfortantly
computers do not come with the USB cable anymore to connect them to the printer...
I should know as last year got a computer and printer bla bla bla...around feb or so...got home packed up my old computer and printer....
unpacked my new one and hooked everything up...
poof...WHERE IS MY USB CABLE...SOB's...I called Best Buy up right then and there asked about it...and then talked to the Manager...
They have not been doing that for years now...what the hell...
Most printer, hell most anything for computers nowadays does not come with cables. I used to sell them, don't forget that they would charge 6 bucks more for that cable. Also if you are like me you either A) have a bunch of USB cables anyway or B) want the nice gold plated ones.
yeah youd think theyd pissed off thier entire clientell by now
people are stupid... that is the easiest way to describe this situation. (referring to HP)
Having used to be an employ an electronics store I can tell you why they dont come with a USB cord. its because it gives the sales associate the opportunity to sell a person who dosnt know jack squat about computers ( any one that appears to be over 40 and says key words like "i dont know what I need." "can this computer do this?" etc etc) something as simple as saying well in order to hook up this to this you need this it opens the door so to speak to coax a person into thinking they might need stuff they dont really need or to tip them over into something they where considering into the buy it from us situation.
You want to know the kicker though? after they have purchased alllllll this stuff you offer them the protection plans. people shell out a percentage of what they just bought for a piece of paper.... It was a seasonal job suffice to say that I felt like a bastard afterward, good money though.
I am posting from Switzerland and yes, over here the printers don't come with cables anymore either. The good staffers are those who ask you whether you still need a cable or if you have one at home already.
However, it would be better if they put those cables back into the box with the printer because most staffers forget to ask so people not familiar with these issues are really puzzled back at home.
Have they ever came with cables. I mean I remember buying dot matrix printers that didn't have cables.
Unfortunately, that's the industry standard now - now just HP. You buy a Dell, Canon, etc - same deal.
When I was selling PC's in 96, printer cables were sold seperatley. Did this change? I assumed usb cables would fall in line with that philosophy.
Goes to show how long it has been since I bought a printer. The last one I bought, did have a cable. I just thought that was automatic... sell a product that you can plug in and use when you open the box.
I just went to staples to buy a cable... 20.00! If any of you are involved with any of this racket... eat my ass. :) (As if the CEO of HP reads my blog.)
Burn!
This is why you consult with your closest computer nerd™ before buying:) And yes, it is really irritating when you get something new and shiny and can't use it. But there is one good thing about this, and that is if you already have the cable you won't have a useless "spare" laying around for a while and eventually put in a landfill.
That is why I like the idea of wifi printers (I say idea, because I do not want to install a bunch of crap software from companies like HP to make it work thank you very much), or the alternative hooking it up to the router. That one still requires a cable, but at least all the computers can use it then.
Besides, you are suppose to fix your video camera drivers thingies, not printing stuff :P
Dont get me started on the camera... I installed some nice codec pack, supposed to fix every thing... well Windows Movie Maker still does not recognize the files straight from the camera. I don't know what all of those files are doing in my computer right now... probably sending my savings to some dude in Russia, but the one thing I wanted them to do... fix Movie Maker so it reads Mp4, is not happening...
Screw it all, back to DoWII
That mac doesn't sound so bad now does it? :P
All jokes aside, the best is really to get a geek on the case. These things are boring to fix and you just want it fixed. You might have to reinstall a bunch of crap as well.
hey chris, im waiting for a review of your battle foam case 1520. Im considering getting one.
return the printer and get a wireless printer. I picked up a brother and i think its great. No cables to worry about and my kids can print from anywhere in the house.
Penny Pinching Accountants?...
While I hate the fact most stuff doesn't come with the cables, when you buy off the Internet like at Amazon, they can't "remind" you need a cable.
I bought a new laser yesterday from a local store that has decent prices. The clerk asked me if I needed a cable. I didn't, but I appreciated the thought on his part.
The big question is how long a cable do you need? Would you as pissed if they supplied a 5' cable and you needed a 6' cable? My network printer needs a 10' Ethernet cable...
A friend of mine told me years ago that printers don't come with cable because they do not pass FCC regulations once they are hooked up to a computer. You know the part about "will not interfere with other devices". Apparently the printer by itself as packaged would pass. But once hooked up would fail. So, the solution was to package it so that there was no way to hook it up. His job was to do FCC testing for an electronics company. I would bet that he knew what he was talking about. Although this had to be 10 years ago he told me this. So, I have no idea if it is true anymore.
How to update printer driver? rca
I like it.
But i understand the problems you faced in past.
I really want to make sure that everything you made is really good to see.
Thank you
