Heroes of Armageddon work in progress!

Meet Tom Schadle.

Tom is painting THE Hero of Armageddon, Lord Dante, supreme commander of all Imperial forces involved with the Battle for Armageddon.  I guess that makes Tom royalty?  Well, I don't know about that, but I do know what I have seen.  Tom has won well over a dozen Golden Daemons, including the elusive Slayer Sword.  Enough said. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. In no particular order, here is a body of Tom's work, all of these winners of Demons.

I actually borrowed this power sword technique!

Tom was asked by Dave Taylor, another painting legend, to do Dante for our cause and Tom eagerly agreed.  I have not gotten any WIP pics from Tom because he said he will be painting Dante all at once over the course of a weekend. I do know that he will be using the standard Dante model, with a little addition of a winged jump pack.  If you would like to see more of Tom's work check LOOK HERE.

So what else do I have for you?

How bout a WIP update from Tim Williamson from Tau of War who is painting some Sanguinary Guard!

Tim emailed me saying how he thought they were coming out terrible.  I'm glad he was just pulling my leg and being humble. These look fantastic man.  I particularly like the black at the top of the wings.  It is a nice contrast with the gold.

What else?

How bout Ron Saikowski of From the Warp providing us with yet another awesome banner!  As you know, Blood Angels chapter banners follow a format.  They always have an image of a robed Sanguinius, hold various items that represent the specific battles in which the banner is used.  I asked Ron to create a custom banner, and paint a terminator carrying it into battle.  Here is a sketch of what Ron came up with. Sorry to steal your thunder Ron! How awesome is this?  I get goose bumps when I think about how beautiful this is going to be.

Mike de Boer, mastermind of the entire project, got involved with The Blood Angels army and is painting the Death Company Storm Raven.  I have not gotten any WIP pics from him yet, but he probably put them up on Santa Cruz.  He did send me this:

I know the flyer is in good hands.

Just in: Pics of Mike's Death Company Raven!

Mike Cho has been elusive on sharing update pics with me. I suspect he is waiting to unveil a big bang! Here is a pic I swiped off his blog!

Mike is doing a Furioso Dread, Storm Raven and Assault Squad.

Yours Truly?

Here are some Land Raider pics! Oh, and for all of you who asked, the resin bas reliefs come from Scibor Miniatures. They look great, and while not the easiest things to work with, can add a nice finishing element to your tank.

My models are not coming as fast as I hoped. First of all, school ends in 2 weeks and I will have a few weeks before our deadline to get the models done, and 8 hours a day from home with which to do it with no Jawababy running around because he will be at daycare.  :)  But the bigger problem is that my right arm has almost completely broken down! Some days are better than others, and on those days I paint as much as I can, but other days I can't even hold a brush. I have a doctor appointment scheduled for next week. They are saying carpel tunnel. I am only painting 5 termies, corbs a priest and this raider and I have no fear that they will be beautiful. It is just frustrating. Any of you have any insight into this?  My right hand and forarm either go numb, or cramp up with shooting pain.  Bah.  Pain be damned the 9th legion will march. :)

And hey Brad The Spoiler.  I have not forgotten about your Vrock.  I know it has been a while, but you are lined up in my queue to be completed right after the Heroes project and another little commission I have, and before I do my Nova army.  And no charge. I hoped to be done with your model by now. The wings are going to look like the wings on this raider.  (The left side)

Back to the Heroes project!  I don't know what is next in line to be given away, but last week a beautiful painted model was given out to one lucky winner.  Check out the Heroes Blog for updates!

Coming up next, updates from Joe Johnson, Matt McClannahan and John Dickerman!

The minis are looking great!

Sorry to hear about your arm. My chiropractor claims that spinal adjustment can fix about anything (it's all about the nerves). I hate to admit it, but he may be right. My back is feeling better than ever, my acid reflux is gone, and I didn't suffer seasonal allergies this spring like I usually do.

Yah the arm thing sucks. It has been going on for a year now, it started from hours of holding the baby last year. Chiropractor is on my list of things to do. I have a whole list of things that I need to take care of with this breaking down old body, starting with my weight. But damn I love Pizza!

I have been very elusive, but I shall provide you with pics shortly. WIP pics kinda get in the way. It takes too much time to take the pics and write up something for blogger versus just finishing it up completely and then typing something up :)

With martial arts, video games, working in front of computers all day, playing the violin AND painting minis I'm surprised my hands can move at all. With that said I've been going to the chiropractor for years and I must say it has me feeling well.

Sadly enough carpel tunnel is generally caused by a choking of the nerves done by...get this the muscles getting too strong in the hands and expanding around the nerve itself.

The second most common is actually called a 'repetitive stress injury' and is sometimes confused as carpel tunnel because it has the same symptoms. It is caused by the nerve being choked out by either pressure or not taking proper breaks / stretching (yes you need to stretch your hand).

Anyway hope some of that stuff helps Jawaballs!

My wife had Carpaltunnel in her wrist form work. She had surgery on it and she has had zero problems since then.

My buddy also had a pain in his hand, He found out he had a genetic defect in that his blood vessels were rapidly growing in a mass. They took out a mass the size of a ping pong ball of vessels from just under this thumb.

Good luck, nothing is worse than not feeling normal.

Nice language friend. I'm gonna leave your comments up here just to show how special you are. Is this dawarboss? Way to make a new name to spread your love. What are you too afraid to be a douche with your usual name so you made a new one just for me? I'm flattered.

Oh, I took down the comment moderation. You can go back to using your regular name.

Not sure I understand what Dill_ownergoalie is bent about. Personally I think the Land Raider looks like it's been well started and will look very nice when completed.
Perhaps, as I am an old and well grizzled veteran of many a gaming table, I can't see where things were cut and glue has leaked. Perhaps I ought to have my eyes checked?
Or perhaps you, Mr Dill, only see flaws due to jealousy? Show us all pics of you doing something better then the writer of this blog or be silent.

Thanks Relic. I think this dude under a different name has shared his ignorance with us all in the past.

That is not to say that what he says does not have merit. But I already addressed the issue he is hating on. I admitted that I am not the best "modeler" in a previous post. That I had a hard time with making the relief fit. I think that most dudes can forgive me for not being perfect.

But also, I can say that some harsh criticisms based on high definition pictures of models where you can see imperfections that would not be visible to the naked eye are unnecessary.

I can say that this model looks great on the table as is.

My only beef with this champs criticism is the disrespectful way he presents it and the language he uses to do so.

I am all for criticism but make it productive and provide ways and feedback for improving. Worst of all I hate the anonymous nature of the internet. To this day saying the wrong thing to someone can get you into a lot of trouble and it is sad to see things people would say online but not to my face.

wasn't Dante just commander of the ground forces, whereas Lord Helbrecht was commander of the combined Naval forces? At least that's the way I understood it.

Meh.
It's too bad he's given into his hate.
I don't, personally, understand what got his undies all tangled. This is a project for charity.
End of the day, that's what matters most. That these people took the time and effort to make something that isn't for themselves.
Bottom line, I think Dill_ownergoalie is mad he can't have them.

ehhh another arrogant person in the world. Anyway Things are looking awesome I can't wait to see the finished product.

I know this is a little late but the minis all look great. Fingers crossed for my most extreme of slim chances.

As for the carpel tunnel issue, have you tried compression gloves? it won't fix the problem but it does help mitigate the pain/swelling if you use them before it flares up. i had to give up the hobby part of this game do to RMS but due to the gloves, I'm back in the painting saddle.
